Thanks

You can find some videos in YouTube about this topic.
I am so annoyed that piano gloss plastic is scratching so easily.
My opinion this foiling is a profession. If you have a very good hand skills you might able to stick on is without air bubbles.
I would never try it myself.

Hi
I have done it before on my Audi A3 but I was able to remove the centre console (downloaded instructions on how to remove trim) but I am unsure how the centre console can be removed on the Astra. Is there a web site where you can download instructions
on removing interior trim?

Hi there,
I did like the gloss black either. Was going to order black leather effect vinyl to try and cover it but already had some alcantara effect at home so tried it yesterday. Not sure how I feel about it so far. I’d prefer to be able to wrap down into the indents but it didn’t want to stick. Taking the trim off to wrap would be the way to go.

Hi srscott44
That is a brilliant job, I've just had a go with brushed steel vinyl and I'm thinking exactly the same about being unsure and that it would be great if we could have removed the trim. Also thinking maybe a black gloss vinyl because I do like the black gloss but not with all the scratches and finger marks.
Here is a photo of my attempt to cover it.

That looks really smart as well. I’m hoping I haven’t marked the black underneath to badly with the blade during the trimming. I have gloss black vinyl here but decided against it as it is a finger print magnet. The black alcantara is a dust magnet. Tempted to use a blue pattern actually.

Hi srscott44
I did not cut it in situ as I was to frightened that the knife blade would scratch it, so I made a template by using lining wallpaper and marking the shape by rubbing my fingers around the shapes to cut out. I then carefully cut the paper and used this to mark it out of the back of the vinyl.

From the author on another forum:
I can only recommend removing it, otherwise you won't be able to get to it properly
...since everything just clicked, it works quite well. Only the button for the armrest is a little in the way
...first remove the side parts and then simply lift up the middle. The two front parts are secured with a screw on the side.

Well I've gone and made a drastic change! Not exactly subtle but I think it looks good in person. What say you guys? It's a new skin from a company called XtremeSkins. I'd intended to make it look like black leather but this came out so went this direction. Getting it just right at the joins was a problem but it's not to bad. They normally do skins for phones and tablets but was able to buy a big sheet of the vinyl without cuts.
