Hi all,
I have a 2023 Astra Ultimate 1.2 petrol turbo.
I have been told by my main dealer that currently on average they are fitting 5 engines a week due to belt failure after degradation due to the wet belt system.

I have sent countless emails to various members of the exec team, all of which have been ignored. My local dealer said they have heard a rumour of a recall to a timing chain conversion.

This is clearly a very big worry. Anyone have any further information around this I would be very grateful. I won’t settle till I get some answers from Vauxhall.

I believe the new chain-driven variant of the 1.2 engine is only used for the mild-hybrid applications. I could be wrong though.

The Mild Hybrid version is 1.6, still waiting on news for the 1.2. I find it amazing that this engine is used in so many vehicles, and there is still no cure. Probably due to the numbers of engines around.
